Word of "science" is identical to boring issues, brain taking, genius, & nerd for me. Hence I wasn't really exciting when a friends of mine ask me to go to Singapore Science Centre. But since I didn't have anything in my mind to be done, then I agree to join them.
Guess I was wrong. I found it as a cool new playground!! I kept playing all those tools & equipments there for around 4.5 hours until it was closed & still feel that it was not enough for me!!! I did weird things there..from getting in line with kids for having my friend took a pic of me with "magical table" until getting in the helicopter. What really amazed me the most was the Omnimax movie in Omniplanetarium. With its lifelike scenarios, the virtual voyages on the stimulator really had my adrenaline pumping for its fighter pilot story.
 I'm in the helicopter!!!
 Where's my body????!!!!

It was so hard for me to wake up early in the morning on last Sunday. I had not slept right away as I had known that I wouldn't be able to wake up on-time, hence I prepared all the sfuffs for the beach in Sentosa Island. By the time I was done with it...it was 4am!!! My God...
As predicted, I was late arrived at subway station as the gathering place...40 minutes late to be precise...felt so bad about it... =( Thank God, there were more people much late than me...hehehe.. =P *making excuse* But when I saw the queue for the bus to Sentosa Island. Wohohoho...crazy!!!! It was a damned long quaueu!!! We decided to take a taxi. I think we would arrive in the next day if we took the bus =P

I didn't really swim into the sea as wasn't sure that the water was nice, regarding those oil ships were only few meters away. By the end of the day, most friends of mine confirmed about it =) I was just splash the water on the coast & had a chat with Diana. And of course, TOOK PICTURES!!! Hahaha.. =D Seems like me & Diana have a thing in comment bout it, we love taking pictures!!! =P
On da way home, the queue for the bus was so long (again!!!). We commited to walk around 2 km!!! It was raining, but so nice though to walk with friends =)

Loads of poeple told me that I should witness the fireworks in Chinese Nu Year's Eve at Chinatown, hence I was so curious about it. I wasn't really sure about it since another frind of mine, told me that going to Chinatown for Chinese Nu Year's Eve is not a good idea since the street will be full of people & packed, we can't even breath. Trapped in the confusion, I decided to prove all those stories.
I planned to go out in the morning & finish the day in Chinatown in the evening till dawn. The plan was I'll be meeting some friends in MRT (subway) station but seems like only 1 person who really determine to explore places, it was only William, the Brazillian guy, the only one who showed up. Some of friends sms me, said that they will join in the afternoon.
 - me & william -
I spent the half day until the afternoon walking around in Little India, Arab street & Geylang. William had such a big sense of curiousity. He didn't want to miss any spot at all. The funny thing was when we enter one of the Hindu community, me & William got bindhi (the red spot on forehead for India people). It was very weird for me to see white man like William walking around with bindhi!!! Hahaha... =D I had him take my pic also with "ang pow tree"..such a funny tree!!!
 - me & ang pow tree -
William told me that there will be a stage in the Chinatown. We waited for hours there for our friend, his friend & my friend to join us. But in the end, we meet none of them!!! The worse thing was..we find out that there are 2 stages instead of 1 stage & seems like our friend searching for us in another stage area!!! My God!!!
Well...seems like those people was right. The fireworks were marvelous!!! The fireworks show was for around 20 minutes. It was so coulorful & in many shapes. The lamp in animals shape & the laser light were also awesome!! Another friend of mine was right also. Chinatown was so packed!!! I couldn't take a pic of the fireworks. I couldn't even breath!!! Since my figure is not really supportive for such a street show, I spent most of the show with staring at other's shoulder!! Alamaaaakkk..... ="(

I went to Mocca's performance (again!!!) in esplanade on last Friday (esplanade again!!!) Dunno why..I always like outdoor performance in esplanade at the waterfront. Too bad I missed their first 20 minutes performance ="( But no problemo at all..they performed for 2 hours with 15 minutes break.
I had known that there will be fireworks around esplanade for Chinese New Year, but I had not known that it would be only few meters behind the waterfront stage!!! The fireworks were so awesome!!! The band even stopped playing for few minutes, since its' sound was so loud & it was to good to be missed!!! =)
 - mocca & fireworks -
As u already guessed, I was so busy in singging along during their performance. I got my new favourite song from them, its' title is "Happy". It was ended up with me & my friends shouting "Mocca rockz!!!! We love u Mocca!!!" for the band's website...hehehe.. =P (FYI, the vocalist's cousin is my friend). I just checked the website, but seems like it's still underconstruction. Let me know if you found my ugly face while shouting for the band's website in www.mymocca.com ;-)

My bos' bos just came to my tiny cubical space & shaked my hand said "Gong Xi Fa Cai Tisa..Enjoy Your Holiday!!!". I know it's not a big thing...but he gave me something I like : ANG POW!!! Yyyyyyiiiiihhhhaaaa!!!! I begin to love Chinese New Year!!! =D
It's still awkward for me to get Ang Pow from him, as neither me nor him is celebrate Chinese New Year (just like me & my bos). I assumed he would give me more amount of money than my bos (FYI, he rules Finance Asia Pasific man!!!). And...I was right!!! He gave 2.5 times my bos' ang paw which given to me. Again...for it's not about the amount of money, it's just so excited on getting someting from the big bosses...more about a symbol that your existence is appreciated =)
I GOT 2 ANG POWS!!!!! Yiiipppiiiiee!!!! *twingkling my eyes*

I just back from company lunch occasion. When it comes to an event celebration, ussually there's a lunch occasion for my team. So far what I got are only Cristmas & New Year (regarding I just joined the company for 3.5 months). What I just had today was for Chinese New Year.
Chinese New Year for 2006 will be on Sunday, 29th of January. Since most of Singapore citizen are Chinese, hence so many shows to welcome it. Chinatown & nearby is the centre of its celebration. You can find every kind of Lunar Celebration there...from Lighting Projection, Countdown Party, until Festive Street Talls. But the one that I've been waiting for is Chingay Parade of Dreams. It's a street & floads parade at Orchard Road next weekend!!!
The cool thing about Lunar New Year this year is...I got my first Ang Pow!!! And it's from my bos, the General Manager!!!! Hahaha!!! =D (Ang Pow : the red envelope for gifts of money at Chinese New Year - given to spread the happiness & prosperity). For me it's quite weird as neither me or my bos is celebrate Chinese New Year. I thought that there would be a greeting card inside this Hewlett Packard's red envelope, but guess I was wrong. There's money indeed inside!!! Wawawaaaa!!!! =D My bos is so fun!!! Well..the amount of the money is not much (damn!!). But for me it's not about the money, it's more about the excitement!!! =)
For you who celebrate Chinese New Year : GONG XI FA CAI !!!! (May U Get Prosperity!!!!)

I got invitation from AIESEC National University of Singapore to attend experince sharing session for the even called "Information Talk for Student Nominee Recruitment Drive". I supposed join the session with other friends. But unexpected things happened...
I was really rush from office straight away to the venue & I had not finished my work yet. I'm sure that if I didn't have intention to attend this event, I would be still stuck at the office until late. Once I entered the door in the venue...a little shock stroke. I thought it would be held in a small class room....but it was in a hall. Then I started to have a chat with one of NUS's student. It was a very quick one, as while we were having conversation, I got somebody called my name & asked me to step up to the front because the sharing session has came. I was like "WHAAAAATTT???!!!!!". I didn't even have a chance to sit!!! The most shocking part was none of my friend who supposed to be there with me for the session came. I was end-up speaking alone with no preparation!!!!
For the first few minutes I involved the attendant for the session. Honestly, it was ment to give me time to think about what should I say. Well...it was fun actually. Felt like lecturing the student...hehehe.. =)

Last night I went to Mocca's concert with many Indonesian as my new friends. They were friends of my friend, Made.Yup, I missed Made as my "Mocca's partner". But I got another guy named Made as well accompanied me for the concert (for your info : Made is commonly name for those who originally come from Bali). Mocca will have another 3 performances in Singapore & 2 performances in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.I planned to catch their outdoor performance in Esplanade on this weekend with my friends already, though not sure yet. Well...at least I got one already, rite??!! ;-)
Actually it was supporting event, not the main concert. No wonder they only performed few songs & that's why it was more to "Warm Up" Concert for me. Well...I'm not sure how many songs they had as I was quite busy singing along throughout the show. Hahaha... =D Its title was "Play it Softly!" with a band called "My Writer" as the special guest (1 of my new friend, Copper, told my they were local band. He told me he could figure it out by their appearance. Hahaha... =D). The venue was at Earshot, The Arts House at The Old Parliament, 1 Old Parliament Lane at 7PM. The venue was kinda cool...it was cozzy place with their brand as "Singapore - Books Music Film".
I have pic of me & the band taken, but I dunno why the pic wasn't good. At least I have a good pic with Arina, the vocalist. I wonder what my friend, Dita, would say about this pic, as she said few times that I look exactly like Arina.
To Dita : What d'u think bout the pic below??? I don't think I look like her. I still don't understand why you kept saying that I look like her!!! Hahaha.. =D
 - Me & the vocalist, Arina -
To Audi : Thanks for the invitation. I did enjoy the band's music =)

One of my favorite bands from Indonesia; Mocca; is coming to Singapore!!! Yippie!!! \(',')/ I will definitely go to their performance. But I do will miss the partner for Mocca’s concert this time. I went to all Mocca’s concert in my town with this guy named Made. In fact, he’s the 1 who got me to his “Mocca virus” for the 1st time. I don’t think I’ll be the band’s fan if he didn’t keep me updated about them & ask me out for their performance previously in my town. And now I’m end up as Mocca’s fan. It’s not that I’m an insane fan who’s crying out load & screaming while seeing the artist until getting unconscious. I just like their music.
To Made : Too bad that you’ll miss this Mocca concert. I’ll keep you updated about the concert for sure. No worries man!!! ;-)

I got a call from my new friend last weekend, a guy from Netherlands named Dirk. He let me know that he was going to the beach in Sentosa Island with his friends. Well…since I didn’t have any plan, I didn’t think that it was a bad idea to join them. He said that most of them are from Germany. But when I met them…it was not “most of them” were from Germany, but ALL OF THEM were from Germany except me & Dirk!!! Hahaha.. =D
It was fun to meet them!!! It is always fun for me to meet new people!!!

I joined friends for an event with Singaporean Moslem fellows for Aidil Adha this year. It was very interesting, since most of the attendant were not Muslim. Since I’m a Muslim, I got quite many questions, especially about the slaughtering things. Well..I'm not such a perfect Muslim, but at least I'm trying to be a good one =)

It’s always sad to say good bye to anyone, including to Asti. Though we have different opinions here & there, but she’s a very cool person. We shared loads of laughing moments during her stay in Singapore & our backpacking journey!!!
See you around Asti... I will definitely miss you...

We got confused which place to visit for the last day since we had to go back to Singapore soon for New Year’s Eve. Genting Highland was the choice!!!! It takes around 1 hour to get to Genting Highland with bus from Kulala Lumpur.
In my opinion, Genting Highland is like a town on the cloud. The cloud came & go…came & float away when I was there though. The coolest part is when we have to take cable card through the rocks & hills around 15 minutes to get to the place. The feeling of knowing that my life depend on the wire was kind of scary but cool at the same time.
 - in the cable car -
 - Cloud in Genting Highland -
2,000 meters above sea level, Genting Highlands, a magnificent city on the hilltop, is but a mere 50km from Kuala Lumpur. It offers a cool respite from the hustle and bustle of the city capital. Crisp invigorating mountain air complemented by majestic scenery spreads out before your eyes. Lush green tropical rainforest shrouded in a veil of perpetual mist makes it hard to believe that you are just minutes away from the sweltering equatorial heat and the ever dusty city. Here, consistent temperatures between 16 and 23 degrees provide natural air conditioning.
Genting Highlands Resort offers the bountiful harvest of nature together with a staggering potpourri of international standard facilities. Besides the cool air and scenic surroundings, this hilltop city also houses the country's one and only casino. However, one should not underestimate its value as this casino has been featured in many films produced by Hong Kong, Taiwan, and even Hollywood. Besides the casino, this hilltop resort also has a theme park of its own and an entertainment center.
Casino De Genting Malaysia's very own gaming paradise is one of the leading and more famous casinos. It boasts of the latest modern gaming facilities. In successfully courting lady luck, many a winner has walked away with broad smiles on their faces (despite the fact that many Chinese believe its building structure, which is rumored to symbolize that of a coffin, carries bad luck). A staggering choice of slot machines and table games beckon the strong hearted. Those who prefer a little exclusivity can become members of the International Room and enjoy the privilege of gaming in privacy and plush surroundings. Special guests of the casino are treated to the VIP room.
The Casino hall was extremely big with very tight security. No wonder it's really famous. Too bad that it was not allowed to take picture there. I felt like I was in Las Vegas!!! The roulette, the armed bandit, etc were really awesome. There were a lot of Chinese around the table. Money was changed into counters to play roulette. Some won and some took their loss without loosing their face. A heap of money was changed again: all banknotes of RM 100. The Chinese are really players. Win or loose: it don't seem to touch them! Money was thrown on the gambling table to change and again they played. I was impressed by their gambling.
Frills and Thrills on the Hills A fantasyland of wild and thrilling adventure awaits the bold at both the indoor and outdoor Theme Park. There are seemingly endless choices of amusements to entertain people of all ages. In the wild outdoors, whoosh down a roller-coaster perched at the edge of the mountain! Dive, plunge, and escalate on the Corkscrew. Take the tranquil Boat Ride, Monorail, Skyway, Main Train and Antique Cars around the man-made lake and enjoy the ingenious landscaping. Adventure through the Jurassic age in the Land of That Time Forgot, speed around the Grand Prix Circuit, venture into the Pirate Train, and try the many, many other attractions…
This was the place I spent my day the most in Genting. I was like a crazy kid who just found a new cool playground!!!

Genting Theater Restaurant Treat yourself to international shows from all over the world at the Genting Theater Restaurant. Enjoy a scrumptious dinner while feasting your eyes on pretty dancers from Las Vegas, mysterious magicians, and world famous singers. Party goers can boogie all night long at the Big Rock Disco Café.
Golf and Horse Riding For the avid golfer, the cool air pushes you further to accept the challenge of finishing the course. Many pleasant alternatives such as horse riding and trekking also beckons to those who wish to soak in the wealth of the tropical rainforest.

Since we had slept at 5 am the night before…we woke up at 11 am!!!
Route for the day:
1. KL Tower This KL communications tower located atop Bukit Nanas is the world's fourth tallest.Standing at 421 metres, the KL Tower stands steadfast beside its well-known cousin, the Petronas Twin Towers. To experience the exhilarating view from the KL Tower, visitors can go to the 335-metre high observation deckFrom here, visitors can observe Kuala Lumpur city below and the world's only forest reserve in the middle of a city.

On the way to the next place, I realized that I lost my glasses!!! Gosh!!! It was disaster!!! It would be pointless visiting places without even knowing what we’re looking at!!! Phew!!! I thought I have to buy either new glasses or contact lenses before we go to the next place.
2.Petronas Tower The plan the night before was going to go to the tower in the morning since the ticket is given for limited visitor only for free. But since we woke up at 11am…guess we should have forget the idea of having the view of Kuala Lumpur from the peak of Petronas. But I don’t think it will be much different from the one we just had in KL Tower.

3.KLCC (Kuala Lumpur City Centre) Basically…KLCC is just like a huge mall for shopping. It's nestled at the base of the world's tallest twin towers & it showcases six levels of shopping. Not so impressive. But somehow…Thank God there are many optical stores...I get my new contact lenses here.
I spend the day in KLCC for waiting for Asti in shopping…2 pairs of shoes right away!!! Ebin calls, we meet in KLCC. Not to forget…taking pics with stupid pose of course around Petronas Tower again!!! Ebin beat us with his “deadly” pose!!! Such a crazy guy!!! Haha.. =D

4. Chinatown Petaling Street, the centre of Kuala Lumpur's original Chinatown, maintains much of its traditional atmosphere, particularly at night when vendors fan out their merchandise along the street. While tourists can shop for anything from gems and incense to toys and t-shirts, the true spectacle in this night market is just a matter of wandering about and enjoying its sights, sounds and energy.
I spent the last spot for the day with waiting for Asti for bargaining some stuffs in Chinatown for hours..phew!!!! Luckily there was Ebin to chat with.

Monday, January 09, 2006
Again…we failed in wake up early..hehehe… =P Guess it was because we had a crazy discussion & “taking pics” session until 2am with Ebin.
We decided to take the route from Lonely Planet. On the way to the first spot we stop in a camera shop to get memory-card for my digital camera. Shit!!! I bought it less than 6 months ago & it’s broken already??!!!
Exploration for the day:
1. 'Dataran Merdeka' or Merdeka Square
Literally translated as "Independence Square", Dataran Merdeka is an excellent locale to journey into KL's past. It was here that the Union Jack was lowered on 31st August 1957, signifying the end of British colonial rule. And at that moment, in front of thousands of thrilled Malaysians, Tunku Abdul Rahman led the famous chant: "Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka!" (Independence!) indicating Malaysia's independence as a nation. Today, a 100-metre high flagpole proudly flies the Malaysian flag as a symbol of the historic independence day.

The Padang or field here was the focal point of KL in the old days, serving as a police parade ground and venue for cricket and other sporting activities. The beautifully landscaped square provides impressive views of the city skyline. Overlooking the square is the Selangor Club. Originally built around 1890, this charming mock-Tudor structure used to be a watering hole for Kuala Lumpur high society.

2. National History Museum Since its inception in 1996, the National History Museum prides itself with a multitude of exceptionally important exhibits from Malaysian History. Here, visitors can discover the wealth of Malaysia's historical heritage through exhibits like the table on which the 1874 Pangkor Treaty was signed and subsequently led to the British's interference in the administration of the Malay states; and the First Federation of Malaya flag symbolizing independence of the Malay states from Britain on August 31, 1957. Other interesting artefacts include a 520-million year old 'metamorphic sandstone', a homo sapien skull dating back 40,000 years and a 15th century 8-sided gold coin.
Apart from the wealth of exhibits, there's also the National History Museum's architecture which is based on Moorish architecture circa 1800.

3. KL Railway Station This railway station built in 1910 of Moorish architecture, which features arches, domes and minarets, creates what some has described as a Byzantine Arabian Nights' fantasyland. The railway constructed to link KL to Klang on the coast, started a network that eventually covered the whole country. Equally splendid is the Malayan Railway Headquarters overlooking the railway station.

3. Islamic Arts Museum & National Mosque Immerse in the beauty of Islamic arts and the great civilization that inspired it. The Islamic Arts Museum is the first in the region to be exclusively dedicated to Islamic art. Distinctively Islamic, the mosque has four magnificent domes. Unique in its design, there is a fifth dome that can only be seen from the inside. Various galleries are dedicated to architecture; Islamic manuscripts; ceramics and glassware; metalwork; arms and armours; textiles and coins. The Islamic arts of the Moghuls of India; the Muslim minorities of China; and the Malay Archipelago are also featured.
4. Lake Garden We were really disappointed when knowing that the places of interest nearby, such as National Planetarium, Bird Park, Orchid Garden, Butterfly Park & Museum Nearby were closed since they were in under construction. But it was okey since we took our time in taking picture with silly pose...hehehe... =P

The best part of the day was on our way home we were trapped in heavy rain. The rain was really-really bad. Things even getting better when we only had one small umbrella!!! We stopped under the bridge for hours with no taxi willing to stop for us!! I really don’t understand why those taxi drivers won’t stop for us. When the rain stopped, we had to go to Asti’s friend to transfer the pics we’ve had just taken to CD as the memory card wass full already. We had around 200 pics taken only in 1 day!!!! Hwakakak!! =D Can you take a guess what time we got home???!!! It was 5am!!!! Damn!!!
Looks like we only visit 4 big spots, rite?? But the fun thing was we totally walking all the time the whole day. We didn’t take any public transportation. Well…we intended to take taxi regarding the heavy rain, but no taxi willing to take us as the passenger!!! How come??!!!! Looks like it’s true when a friend of mine told me that taxi driver in Malaysia is cocky, especially when it’s raining. But I still don’t understand…I thought passenger means money for taxi driver.

We don’t wake up as early as expected since so tired for Ubin Island & Esplanade. Going to Malaysia by bus, the route was to Johor Baru then to Kuala Lumpur. Asti wants to know how Johor Baru looks like. Taking a bus to KL from Singapore usually takes maximum around 6 hours. But it takes 8 hours for us!!!! We are given 2 hours extra for the same price!!! Hahaha.. =P
We align at Pudu Raya in Kuala Lumpur in the evening & started acting like backpacker by looking the hostel we have found in the internet. And we found it!!! Yippie!!! It was a cool experience since usually when it comes to holiday, I always have everything prepared…booked the hotel before the departure & take taxi to the hotel. But this time is different. Guess the art of being backpacker is “expect the unexpected”. It is dark to start the journey. Hence, we choose to start the exploration in the nest day & call my friend instead, Ebin, to meet up.
How’s Ebin??!!! Hmm…if you keep your self updated about AIESEC, I’m sure you know him. The last time I met him was around 1.5 months ago when he was in Singapore. And when it comes to meet him, it’s always about meeting a funny guy. I always laugh every time I have conversation with him. He has hisown way in channeling his opinions. Really nice to meet you Ebin!!! =)

Me & Asti are going too Ubin Island before eading to Malaysia.
Trek through Ubin, an island still regarded as Singapore’s last ‘wild frontier’. Its name derived from the word ‘Zubin’ which means granite. The granite quariies, prawn farms, villages & lush vegetation ass ro rge rustic setting of this island, a stark contrast to the modernity of the city.
I rent bicycles to visit the spots in the island. You know what Asti said about this island??!! She said “Feels like it's the bigger version of Kebun Raya Bogor in Indonesia”!!! Hahaha.. =D
Too bad that there is something wrong with my digicam’s memory card. It’s caused loosing all the pics we have in Ubin Island. We only have 2 pics taken with my mobile phone.
On the way home, Asti asked me to go to the place which almost makes me throw up as I go there too often…it’s Esplanade!!! Damn!!!! Pllleeeaaassseeeee….no more Esplanade!!!!

Wednesday, January 04, 2006
Remember when I told you that I had plan to explore Malaysia during the year-end holiday??? Well...to execute this plan…I decided to be backpacker with my ex-colleague…Asti!!! Yeaahhh…I have a friend again visit me..which is kinda cool!!!
Since she arrives in the evening, then the exploration for Singapore is starting in the next day. Which means, I have to be guide for my friend during her stay in Singapore…(guess I should take it as my side job for the last weeks…hehehe.. =P)
It starts with visiting the place which I have visited around 6 times in December. I’m sure you can take a guess if you really notice my pics in this blog. You’re completely rite…it’s Esplanade!!!!!! Phewwww!!!! Then Bugis..City Hall..Bugis…and other places nearby. Going round & round those areas from dawn till dark!!

Heeellllloooooo…. It’s 2006 already!!!!! What did you do to welcome it???
I went to Sentosa Island for “Foam & Dry – MTV Rave Party on the Beach”. Well…everything was exactly like I had imagined.. Swim suit…beach…laser lamp…VJ MTV…foam….loud music. The fire works was really cool…guess it was the coolest part of the party. But unfortunately the music was kinda “not my type”, hence I joined another party area which has “more understandable” beat for me. I was end-up with dancing all nite long till 5.30am...hehehe… =P -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Believe that you had a wonderful 2005... In another day's time, it will be 2006... Throughout the 365 days, we enjoyed happiness... We also experienced sadness... Had our fair share of successess and mistakes... Made new friends and renewed ties with old ones... Most of all, enjoyed the company of great people....
For 2006, here's wishing you more of the wonderful times you had in 2005!

"HAPPY NEW YEAR 2006" ....MAY YOU GET THE NEW BRIGHTER LIGHT TO SHINE YOUR PATH FOR THE NEW YEAR....
